Hannah Duckworth is a Seattle-based musician who’s straightforward lyricism and intensely catchy melodies are rife with remnants of millennial nostalgia at its finest. Hannah draws on inspiration deeply rooted in 90s alternative and early 2000’s pop punk to create sonically pleasing, guitar-driven masterpieces that will take you back in time while also staying true to the present. Her debut single channels the energy of Paramore, the punchy storytelling of Taylor Swift, and guitar riffs of beloved 2000’s heroes like Fall Out Boy and The Starting Line.
Growing up in the beachy outskirts of Tampa, FL, Hannah’s musical taste constantly evolved. She was raised on country artists like George Strait, Patsy Cline, and the Dixie Chicks, but by 4th grade exclusively set her radio alarm clock to the bay’s most popular alternative rock station, 97x. By middle school, the influential albums “Where You Want to Be” (Taking Back Sunday) and “Three Cheers for Sweet Revenge” (My Chemical Romance) were a permanent daily staple.
Hannah is a self-taught guitar player, picking the instrument up as a high schooler after being trained in piano during elementary school. Hannah’s dedication to music waxed and waned as she focused on pursuing a business degree at Vanderbilt University in Nashville, TN, as well as medaling as a collegiate rower for the school’s team. After graduation, Hannah built a successful career in tech, eventually quitting her job to start her own consultancy designing and managing software products for companies. Her passion for music never left, however, and she started building a catalog of acoustic songs virtually in secret from the world. Armed with strategically selected catchy tunes, Hannah started to fiercely hit Seattle’s open mic and local music scene, instantly gaining attention for her stand-out style and relatable millennial lyricism.
Hannah’s success in music has started to build quickly, despite her incredibly recent entrance to the scene. Aaron Gillespie, drummer of mega popular hardcore band Underoath and frontman of The Almost, has signed on to produce her upcoming EP. Her debut EP promises to be a sensational journey that keeps us bopping in the present while traveling to yesteryear. In an age where much music can be produced with a single laptop, Hannah is passionate about building compositions that excite the listener with the depth and complexity of real instruments. With this kind of debut, you can expect an exciting journey for Seattle’s rising star.
